Ejes verdes Barcelona

XI Congreso de la Red de Ciudades que Caminan, Baluarte, Pamplona
On September 26 and 27, 2024, the XI Congress of the Walking Cities Network was held in Pamplona.
It was two wonderful days in which we were able to share, enjoy, and learn from people and city councils, such as those of Pamplona, Vitoria, Pontevedra, Porto, among others, who continue working to make their cities walkable, prioritizing health and community life.
In this context, I had the opportunity to present the Green Axes project in Barcelona, as an experience of change within the framework of the Superblocks strategy, which pursues a systemic transformation and has turned 5 km of streets in Barcelona’s Eixample district into a place to walk, to stay, and a space for climate adaptation.
I take with me what was said in the first session by the mayor of Pontevedra, Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores:
"There is already a lot of philosophy, now we need to move to practice."
Congratulations to the cities of Vitoria, La Línea de la Concepción, Astilleros, Porto, and Conil de la Frontera, which received the Walking Cities award in their respective categories.
